The International Conference Intermodal Connections in the Adriatic-Ionian Macroregion, organized by Marche Region and the Port Authority of Ancona, in collaboration with Sviluppo Marche SpA, within the framework of the First Macro Theme Meeting of Easyconnecting Project,  ended last Thursday in Ancona.

The event was attended by approximately 200 people, among who were government authorities and military officials, logistics operators, sector experts and representatives of local enterprises . In the audience, there were also numerous representatives of institutions and organizations from the other side of the Adriatic sea, partners of the two projects.

Among distinguished speakers who took the floor, were the representatives of the Italian Ministry of Economic Development  - Ivana Sacco and of the Italian Ministry of Transport and  Infrastructures - Federica Polce, the Vice President and the Councilor for Infrastructures of Marche Region - Anna Casini, the Secretary General of the Adriatic-Ionian Initiative - Fabio Pigliapoco.

The presentation of the results of the EASYCONNECTING Strategic Project has stimulated a debate  over strategies, plans and financial resources for the European intermodal transport and logistics system, as well as on the main "bottlenecks" of infrastructural, administrative and cultural nature that hinder the full interaction and integration of the Adriatic-Ionian  infrastructure system within the TEN-T network, with particular reference to the Scandinavian-Mediterranean Corridor .

Several suggestions for the development of intermodal services in the Adriatic-Ionian region have arisen from the debate.
